Cookies and Cream Overnight Oats

Who else is obsessed with cookies and cream flavor? This healthy(ish) cookies and cream overnight oats is packed with tons of protein and tastes incredible. It’s like dessert in a jar and it is so easy to make. It just takes a few ingredients and a jar to mix it all in. I like to enjoy this for either breakfast or a post-workout meal because it is packed with protein.

What are Overnight Oats?

Overnight oats are simple no-cook oat dishes that require the oats to be soaked in some kind of liquid, usually milk and left in the fridge to soften. They are usually served cold and are always a great option to grab on the go.

Ingredients for Cookies and Cream Overnight Oats

These ingredients are so simple but it makes for such a delicious overnight oats. It also comes out creamy and delicious. I really hope you give it a try.

  1. Rolled oats: For this recipe, rolled oats is best. However, you can use whatever oats you have on hand. This recipe has lots of yogurt, and not a lot of liquid so if you’re using steel cut oats for this recipe, you have to add a little more liquid to avoid it being too thick. But overall, for any overnight oats recipe, I personally would avoid steel cut oats because of the texture.
  2. Chia seeds: Great to help with the texture of the overnight oats.
  3. Unsweetened Greek Yogurt: I like to use unsweetened because I realize that it tends to be too sweet for me. Moreso, I just like the tang of unsweetened yoghurt. BUT by all means, you can use sweetened Greek yogurt.
  4. Sweetener of choice (to taste): I like to use sugar or honey and a little really does go a long way. For this recipe, I use half a tablespoon, I don’t like it overly sweet but you can adjust to your desired sweetness level.
  5. Vanilla extract: For flavor
  6. Milk: You can use any milk for this recipe. The milk makes it creamier and adds more protein. If you want. you can use water.
  7. Dark chocolate (chopped)
  8. Salt (optional): Just a pinch
  9. Protein Powder (optional): This is the best way in my opinion to sneak in any protein powder, particularly the ones that tend to be grainy or textured. The creaminess of the yoghurt completely transforms the texture of whatever you put in it.

    Tips and Variations

    Make it Vegan

Substitute the milk and yoghurt for plant-based options of your choice. It is that easy. Thankfully Oreo cookies are vegan, so you can enjoy this overnight oats as you please.

    Adding Protein Powder

Add protein powder to the oats is not a prerequisite but it adds a little more protein if you’re trying to sneak it in. I used the Nature’s Bounty Vanilla Protein Powder as I’ve been trying to use this up for a while now. It seamlessly incorporated into the mixture and added an extra 15g of protein.

    Using Other Cookies

Oreo is the single best cookie for this recipe. You can however substitute it for any other chocolate based cookie.

How to Store Cookies and Cream Overnight Oats

The best way to store it is in the fridge. It can last up to three days in the fridge. I would recommend storing the rest of the Oreo cookies in an airtight container or resealing the bag if you do not intend on using the rest of it soon.

Why Cookies and Cream Overnight Oats?

It reminds us of one of the most loved flavors of ice-cream- cookies and cream flavor. The combination of creamy oats and the rich, chocolatey flavor of cookies creates a deliciously indulgent breakfast or snack.
